font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\">Secondly, with <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/data.worldbank.org\/indicator\/AG.LND.AGRI.K2?locations=1W-8S\">5.6% of the global agricultural area<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, South Asia supports around <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/ccafs.cgiar.org\/resources\/publications\/climate-smart-agriculture-south-asia-opportunities-and-constraints\">700 million people<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, mainly smallholders, reliant on farming.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;sky&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\">Furthermore, climate-related hazards inflict substantial losses on arable land, livestock, and revenue, affecting crop availability and safety.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;sky&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Analysis&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1665396019677-3b45896e-421ce7e6-e752&#8243;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Climate Change Analysis on South Asia&#8217;s Agriculture<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\">Climate change reduces staple crop yields by <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/3\/i3325e\/i3325e.pdf\">up to 10% (rice) and over 10% (millet, maize, etc.)<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in South Asia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\">Climate change, population growth, food demand, and poverty endanger South Asia&#8217;s agriculture. To meet consumption, <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/sar-climate.adpc.net\/index.php\/2022\/04\/04\/discussion-on-climate-smart-agriculture\/\">food production must rise by 60% by 2050<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/climate-smart-agriculture\/en\/\">Climate-smart Agriculture (CSA)<\/a><\/span><\/strong> guides actions for transforming agricultural systems to enhance development and food security amid climate change. CSA practices can help achieve a paradigm shift to use resources and protect and conserve natural systems efficiently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\">Additionally, overlooking resilient farming practices amplifies climate&#8217;s effect on poverty and food insecurity, exacerbating present and future challenges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; font-size: 15px; color: #000000; line-height: 28px; text-decoration: none;\">Altogether, South Asian countries like Bhutan, India, Bangladesh, and Nepal are committed to implementing CSA strategies through their NDCs.
