Its vision is a sustainable environment and forest development, and its mission is to ensure a sustainable living environment for the present and future population of the country through the protection of the environment and biodiversity, control of environment pollution, tackling climate change, development of forest resources and sustainable management of maritime resources.<\/p>\n

It is an independent ministry of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Its main function is to plan, promote, coordinate, and monitor government activities related to the environment and forest.<\/p>\n

This Ministry was established to look after all environmental matters in Bangladesh, and the Ministry is a permanent member of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council. The Ministry also participates in the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).<\/p>\n

The main functions of the Ministry include environmental conservation, survey of forest and environmental elements, prevention of environmental degradation and pollution control, afforestation and restoration of degraded areas, and overall protection of the environment. Previously, the ministry’s name was the Ministry of Environment and Forest.<\/p>\n

On May 14, 2018, the cabinet changed the name to Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.<\/p>\n

The Bangladesh Climate Change Trust is a government trust in Bangladesh that utilizes funds to take action against problems caused by climate change. The trust fund has operated since 2010 and collaborates with government ministries, NGOs, and the private sector to implement and evaluate climate change mitigation projects.<\/p>\n
