The new 7-year project brings together a broad set of funders to help reduce the vulnerability of people and ecosystems in Pakistan to the impacts of climate change following the devastating floods of the past year\u2014which submerged one-third of the country and displaced millions. A recent study reveals that climate change is causing the world’s oceans to adopt a “green” hue, linked to human-driven activities. The phenomenon, evident in equatorial and low latitude regions, stems from shifts in plankton populations altering ocean color.<\/p>\n

While the literal color isn’t a concern, scientists, including BB Cael from the University of Southampton, emphasize understanding its implications.<\/p>\n

Unlike previous chlorophyll-focused methods, Southampton researchers employ NASA’s Modis-Aqua satellite data, noting color shifts toward red and blue. These changes, affecting over 56% of oceans, serve as indicators of human impact on ecosystems, prompting the need for comprehensive research, exemplified by NASA’s PACE satellite mission since 2004.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
