As part of its CARE initiative, ADPC launched interventions to create an enabling environment for climate resilience in South Asia by improving the availability of regional data and knowledge; developing guidelines, tools, and capacities; and promoting climate-resilient decisions, policies, and investments across key sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The project enabled crowdsourcing of innovators and developers of disruptive technological solutions that are need-based and tailored to the challenges faced by the region. Building on this momentum, a third round of innovations for Climate Adaptation and Resilience (iCARE) was proposed for 2023\u20132025. ADPC launched this third phase to pilot new innovations and scale up previously tested solutions. The initiative aims to promote innovation and co-creation in climate resilience data and analytics, foster the use of decision-support systems for climate resilience, and advance climate-resilient development across select sectors. Collectively, the three rounds of iCARE innovations have made a remarkable impact, reaching more than a million citizens and around 40 governments in just four years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pf0\">[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Harnessing Technology for Early Warning and Disaster Preparedness&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|font_size:16|text_align:left|color:%234486bf&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;font_family:Open%20Sans%3A300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C600%2C600italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C800%2C800italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>TechEmerge Resilience India Challenge (2020\u20132022) was launched by the World Bank in consultation with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), India, and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as a technical partner to crowdsource private-sector expertise and market-based innovation. Specifically, it has enabled crowd-sourcing innovators and developers of disruptive technological solutions that are need-based and matched to the challenges faced by the country. The main objective of the initiative was to enhance the capacity of the communities and State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMAs) to prepare and respond to disasters, climate risks, and COVID-19, through cutting-edge technological interventions.<\/p>\n<p>ADPC successfully catered and implemented 7 innovations in India through the TechEmerge Resilience India Challenge:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cFlood Forecasting System\u201d piloted in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India by Nelen &amp; Schuurmans.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAI-based real-time Earthquake Early Warning System (EEWS)\u201d piloted and deployed in the state of Uttarakhand, India by Seismic AI.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEmergency Communication Network using DuckLinks\u201d piloted in Himachal Pradesh, India by Project OWL.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cUnmanned Aerial System for Disaster Preparedness, Response &amp; Relief\u201d piloted and implemented in coordination with the State Disaster Management Authority of Himachal Pradesh, India by IdeaForge.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCommunity-Driven Radio (CDR) through open source technology\u201d piloted in 16 remote communities in Uttarakhand state in India by Pragathi Foundation.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cSelf-propelled Self-steerable Lifebuoy for Flood Rescue\u201d piloted in Himachal Pradesh, India by Saif Seas.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIncident Management and Reporting System\u201d piloted and implemented across 12 districts in Himachal Pradesh State, India by Quantela.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Building Resilience through Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Water Solutions&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h2|font_size:16|text_align:left|color:%234486bf&#8221; google_fonts=&#8221;font_family:Open%20Sans%3A300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C600%2C600italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C800%2C800italic|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal&#8221;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Climate Innovation Challenge (2021\u20132023), launched by ADPC with the World Bank and FCDO, aimed to crowdsource innovative and disruptive technology solutions from around the world for resilience in South Asia. Ltd.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHyper-local medium-range weather forecasts\u201d by Precision Development (PxD).<\/li>\n<li>\u201cJal Mitra\u201d by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBuilding Climate Resilience through Aquaponics\u201d by WindPower Nepal Pvt. Ltd.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cVICTORY\u201d by the Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR).<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCalculating Evapotranspiration\u201d by Adapt X of the Asian Institute of Technology.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHigh Throughput Crop Monitoring\u201d by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UoAF).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>All three innovation initiatives under CARE for South Asia were successfully implemented and had a positive impact, benefiting more than a million citizens across seven South Asian
