In this regard, disasters have exacerbated migration to cities, resulting in unplanned and rapid urbanization in the country.<\/p>\n

ADPC launches its 5th ‘Climate Talks’ on International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction to raise awareness on sea level rise\u2014an impact of climate change that is directly related to an increase in disasters and is becoming a rising threat to people’s lives and livelihoods.<\/p>\n

Join Dr. Benjamin Strauss as he shares fresh and exclusive maps, imagery, and data on predicted sea level rise for coastal cities in South Asia, while Mr. Kamal Kishore and Mr. Marco Toscano-Rivalta explore regional challenges, situations, and interventions.<\/p>\n

Dr. Benjamin Strauss<\/a><\/strong><\/span> is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Scientist at Climate Central, USA. He has authored numerous scientific papers and reports on sea level rise and is the architect of the Surging Seas suite of maps, tools, and visualizations. Mr. Kamal Kishore<\/a><\/strong><\/span> is Member of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), India, and Co-Chair of the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). He has worked on disaster risk reduction and recovery issues for over 22 years at the local, national, regional, and global levels.<\/p>\n

Mr. Marco Toscano-Rivalta is the Chief of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Thailand.
