South Asia, in particular, is expected to face intensified monsoons and frequent heatwaves that will continue to threaten its people and ecosystems.<\/p>\n

Join Professor Rajib Shaw as he contextualizes projected climate impacts for rural and urban South Asian communities, while Dr. Arun Bhatta responds to these risks by outlining national strategies to reduce human-induced climate change.<\/p>\n

Panelists:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professor Rajib Shaw is the Chair of the United Nations Science Technology Advisory Group (STAG) for disaster risk reduction; and also the Co-chair of the Asia Science Technology Academic Advisory Group (ASTAAG). He is also the CLA (Coordinating Lead Author) for the Asia chapter of IPCC\u2019s 6th Assessment Report and recipient of the prestigious \u201cPravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA)\u201d in 2021 for his contribution to the education sector.<\/p>\n

Dr. Arun Bhatta is Under Secretary (Technical) at Nepal\u2019s Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFe). He has worked for more than two decades in the government sector, focusing on agriculture and food security, income diversification, climate change, ecosystem-based adaptation, and resilience building.
