Starting point for Pakistan climate change documents
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination in Pakistan has been vested with the mandate to comprehensively address Disaster Management along with spearheading national climate change initiatives both in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The Ministry’s vision is to mainstream climate change in the economically and socially vulnerable sectors of the economy and to steer Pakistan towards climate-resilient development.
Amongst duties that include environmental assessment and monitoring, and law- and policy-making, the ministry is responsible for the development of national strategies and action plans in order to meet international obligations.
The Ministry also coordinates between inter and intra-provincial governments in the context of Climate Change and Global Warming: e.g., water availability and contamination complaints from the lower riparian provinces, development of interprovincial development projects of communication, energy pipelines and transmission lines etc., promotes research and technical cooperation and liaises with international donors/agencies.
