The Nepal National Urban Development Strategy, 2017, aims to establish benchmark standards for urban infrastructure, develop a strategic vision, and prioritize investments and initiatives.

The Strategy focuses on a comprehensive analysis and plan for urban development, emphasizing urbanization trends, planning and policy context, and the rationale and objectives. It also outlines the methodology employed in the study.

The subsequent chapters delve into existing urban development conditions, intended urban system and milestones, guiding principles such as sustainability and inclusivity, national and sub-national urban systems, investment requirements for urban infrastructures, and strategies for urban development activities across various sectors, including infrastructure, environment, economy, investment, finance, governance, and land management.

The Nepal National Urban Development Strategy’s ultimate goal is establishing a Master Framework.

The Strategy was retrieved from the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of Nepal, and approved by the Cabinet, Economic and Infrastructure Committee on 22 January 2017.
