The Act of Bhutan provides for the protection and sustainable use of forests, wildlife and related natural resources of Bhutan for the benefit of present and future generations.
It provides for the regulation of the use of public and private forests and the protection of forests, wild animals and plants, and the conservation of soil and water resources. It includes chapters on forest management, the government reserved forests, social forestry, community forestry, and transport and trade of forest produce.
