The purpose of the Water Act of Bhutan (2011) is to ensure that the country’s water resources are protected, conserved and/or managed in an economically efficient, socially equitable and environmentally sound manner.
The Act provides for the establishment of suitable institutions. It covers aspects such as planning and management of water resources, water abstraction and use, construction and safety of water infrastructure, and monitoring and enforcement.
