Source: Time Magazine

Date: 20 Oct 2022

India, having updated its nationally determined contribution (NDC) in August, will raise the issue of climate finance at COP27 in November to support large-scale deployment of renewable energy projects. Key topics for India at the conference in Egypt include a multilaterally agreed finance definition, a new collective finance goal beyond 2025, assessment of developed countries’ $100 billion/year climate finance commitment, and matters related to the Paris Agreement’s Article 2.1{c}. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged India to take a leadership role at COP27 for a balanced outcome on finance, adaptation, and loss and damage. India is also developing a net-zero emissions strategy for 2070.
