South Asia Region Climate Knowledge Hub (SAR-Climate) invites you to join our celebration of Earth Day 2023 today by taking note of the critical messages from academic experts in disaster risk reduction, economics, capacity-building, and climate change adaptation and resilience in South Asia.

This year’s Earth Day theme ‘Invest In Our Planet’ encourages businesses, governments, and citizens worldwide to invest in our planet to improve our environment and give our descendants a better and safer future.
This theme is especially pertinent to the South Asian region, where climate change has caused significant damage and continues to threaten lives and livelihoods. For example, the World Bank predicts that South Asia will face an average annual economic loss of US $160 billion by 2030 due to climate change and witness over 40 million climate migrants by 2050.
Investing in the planet through sustainable practices such as renewable energy, reforestation, and green infrastructure can mitigate the impacts of climate change, improve air and water quality, and preserve natural resources for future generations.
