The Ministry of Forests and Environment is a governmental body of Nepal responsible for conserving forests and managing the environment in the country. Its website hosts a series of Nepal climate change documents.

Its main purposes are to enhance sustainable growth of the forest and water sectors to manage the biodiversity, flora, and fauna and to increase the development of forest-related enterprises to combat poverty throughout the rural areas of Nepal.

The Ministry’s divisions include:

  • Planning, Monitoring, and Coordination Division
  • Climate Change Management Division
  • Forest and Watershed Division
  • Participatory Forest Division
  • Environment and Biodiversity Division
  • Administration Divison

The Climate Change Management Division (CCMD), under the Ministry of Forests and Environment, was formed in 2018. The Division functions as a central nodal agency on climate change. It leads the formulation of climate change-related policies, plans, and programs, implements them in coordination with government and non-government organizations, and monitor their implementation. It also works as a focal point for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
