Islamic Republic of Pakistan granted the International Organization status to Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC)

On January 12, 2023, the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) signed a Host Country Agreement (HCA) in Islamabad, officially recognizing ADPC as an international organization in Pakistan as per the ADPC Charter. This agreement was approved by Pakistan’s Federal Cabinet and ratified by the President in 2007. Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is represented on ADPC’s Board of Trustees and the Regional Consultative Committee. Mr. Syrus Sajjad Qazi, Acting Foreign Secretary of MoFA, highlighted the importance of ADPC’s role in enhancing Pakistan’s resilience against climate change impacts. Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of NDMA, expressed eagerness to collaborate with ADPC to address global disaster and climate risks. ADPC’s Executive Director, Mr. Hans Guttman, emphasized their evolution into an international organization and their commitment to working with Pakistan. Discussions with Chairman NDMA centered on climate security, standard protocols, and emergency training workshops.
