Green Climate Fund team in Pakistan to discuss cooperation

A delegation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) visited Pakistan to discuss potential cooperation in addressing climate change and accessing climate finance. The delegation met with officials from the Ministry of Climate Change and other stakeholders to enhance Pakistan’s capacity to tackle climate challenges. The GCF team conducted workshops to help participants develop project proposals aligned with the fund’s rules and procedures and mobilize finance from public and private sources. The GCF has been instrumental in supporting Pakistan’s environmental initiatives, with a current portfolio valued at $135 million, and several ongoing projects focused on sustainability and resilience.

India’s Union Budget for 2023/24 focuses on green growth and sustainable development. This week, the United Kingdom Minister for Asia Pacific Anne-Marie Trevelyan visited Bangladesh and signed a Climate Change Accord with the Bangladesh government to join forces to tackle climate change. The discussion for this accord started at the 2021 COP26 in Glasgow when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present.
