11th APFSD Youth Climathon

The 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) Youth Climathon aims to bring innovative youth solutions on climate action forward to a diverse regional audience.

With over half of the world’s youth and many of the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change, encouraging participation from Asia and the Pacific for the Youth Climathon presents a unique opportunity for young people to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and passion to drive climate action, using the regional, multistakeholder platform of the 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Develpment.

This is of particular importance as, out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), only SDG 13 on Climate Action has seen an overall regression in progress in the region.

To apply, please complete the online application form by December 31.

Participants in the Youth Climathon will form teams to develop practical yet innovative solutions under various topics, including:

  • Electric mobility
  • Climate-smart agriculture and food systems
  • Climate resilient/adaptive cities
  • Natural ecosystem preservation (terrestrial, marine, and freshwater ecosystems)
  • Just transition (referring to “Greening the economy in a way that is as fair and inclusive as possible to everyone concerned, creating decent work opportunities and leaving no one behind.”)

The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is an annual, inclusive intergovernmental forum to support follow-up and review of progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the regional level.

The 11th APFSD will be organized from 20-23 February under the theme: “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: The effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions in Asia and the Pacific” at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.
