How do you protect and empower a megapopulation against a multitude of climate risks? India, like many other South Asian countries, is witnessing a significant rise in the frequency of cyclones, landslides, and flooding alongside other disasters. Rising sea levels, in particular, threaten community access to freshwater, thereby endangering lives and livelihoods.

ADPC launches its 6th ‘Climate Talks’ concentrating on the Government of India’s recent shift from response-based to preparation-based investments in climate resilience systems.

Join Mr. Kamal Kishore in this exclusive interview as he shares key lessons and experiences on the changing nature of India’s risk landscape, encouraging active participation from local government and communities to promote preparedness and resilience, financial and institutional reforms amidst growing global uncertainties, and managing the impacts of disasters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Kamal Kishore is Member of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in India and Co-Chair of the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). He has worked on disaster risk reduction and recovery issues for over 22 years at the local, national, regional, and global levels.
